Qwerin is a contemporary dance performance by Osian Meilir that extends the boundaries of traditional Welsh folk dance. Taking inspiration from Queer club culture and the weaving, flowing patterns of folk dance, ‘Qwerin’ is a Welsh folk dance with a twist.
Qwerin was commissioned by the Wales Outdoor Arts Consortium through Articulture‘s ‘Open Out 2021’ callout.

Mae Qwerin yn berfformiad dawns gyfoes gan Osian Meilir sy’n estyn ffiniau’r ddawns werin Gymreig. Gan gymryd ysbrydoliaeth o ddiwylliant clwb Queer a llif patrymau clymog dawnsio gwerin, mae Qwerin yn ddawns werin Gymreig wahanol i’r arfer.

Cafodd Qwerin ei gomisiynnu gan y Consortiwm Celfyddydau Awyr Agored Cymru a hynny drwy galwad ‘AgorAllan 2021’ cwmni Articulture.

First set up in 1979 thanks to the vision of Eirlys and Mansel Phillips and Eirwen Davies, Dawnswyr Talog are one of Wales’ most prominent traditional dance groups. They have garnered a reputation both national and international for folk dance and have put the little village of Talog on the map.

As well as promoting Welsh folk dancing, Dawnswyr Talog’s main aim is to entertain and have fun, ensure that the richness of our dance tradition continues.

Sefydlwyd Dawnswyr Talog am y tro cyntaf yn 1979 diolch i Eirlys a Mansel Phillips ac Eirwen Davies, ac mae’n un o grwpiau dawns draddodiadol amlycaf Cymru. Maent wedi ennyn enw da yn genedlaethol ac yn rhyngwladol am ddawns werin ac wedi rhoi pentref bach Talog ar y map.

Yn ogystal â hyrwyddo dawnsio gwerin Gymreig, prif nod Dawnswyr Talog yw diddanu a chael hwyl, sicrhau bod cyfoeth ein traddodiad dawns yn parhau.

Based in Carmarthen, Sesiwn Werin y Baedd are a crew of local people who enjoy playing Welsh folk music. The meaning behind their name translates to The Boar’s Folk Session and this is where you can find them once a month – the Boar’s Head public house on Lammas Street, Carmarthen.

Sesiwn Werin y Baedd will be offering a musical accompaniment as we parade down to Guildhall Square on Sunday 1 May.

Wedi’i leoli yng Nghaerfyrddin, mae Sesiwn Werin y Baedd yn griw o bobl leol sy’n mwynhau chwarae cerddoriaeth werin Gymraeg.

Bydd Sesiwn Werin y Baedd yn cynnig cyfeiliant cerddorol wrth i ni orymdeithio i lawr i Sgwâr y Guildhall ddydd Sul 1 Mai.

Dawswyr Talog

Dawnswyr Talog yw un o grwpiau dawns traddodiadol amlycaf Cymru, ac ers 1979 maent yn sicr wedi rhoi pentref bychan Talog, sydd nepell o Gaerfyrddin, ar y map!

Mae’r dawnswyr a’r cerddorion yn cyfarfod yn Neuadd Talog ond mae dylanwad Dawnswyr Talog yn ymestyn dipyn pellach na hyn. Mae cyfeillgarwch gyda thimau dawns led-led Ewrop, ac ymweliadau â gwyliau gwerinol amrywiol wedi rhoi llwyfan rhyngwladol i Dawnswyr Talog.

Yn ogystal â hybu dawnsio gwerin Cymreig, prif amcan Dawnswyr Talog yw diddanu a chael hwyl, oherwydd dyma sy’n mynd i sicrhau bod cyfoeth ein traddodiad dawns yn parhau.

We’re pleased to announce that traditional folk dance group Dawnswyr Talog will be performing at the finale of the Creagen Beca Parade on Sunday 1 May 2022, the parade starts at 2pm outside Oriel Myrddin Gallery.

Dawnswyr Talog dancers are one of Wales’s most prominent traditional dance groups, and since 1979 they have certainly put the small West Wales village of Talog, close to Carmarthen, on the map!

The dancers and musicians meet at Talog Community Hall but the influence of Dawnswyr Talog extends far beyond this. Friendships with dance teams throughout Europe, and visits to various folk festivals have given Welsh traditional dance an international platform.

As well as promoting Welsh folk dancing, Dawnswyr Talog’s main aim is to entertain and have fun, as this is the best way to ensure that the richness of our dance tradition continues.
