Gwisgoedd // Costumes

Gwisgoedd wedi dylunio gan Kathryn Campbell Dodd ac wedi datblygu gydag artist tecstil Louise Bird. Diolch I Kirsten Hinks-Knight am eich cymorth gyda’r cwiltio.

Mae’r gwisgoedd yn cyfuno cyfeiriadau hanesyddol at ddillad menywod sy’n gweithio yn y 19eg ganrif yng Nghymru gyda gwisg gweithio cyfoes. Mae pob gwisg wedi gwnïo beiriant ac wedi’i pwytho â llaw. Mae nhw wedi gael ei brodwaith ac mae manylion sy’n cyfeirio at decstilau yng nghasgliad Amgueddfeydd Sir Gaerfyrddin yn Abergwili. Mae’r ffabrigau a deunyddiau yn ail-law a’u gwneud o ffibr naturiol lle bo hynny’n bosibl.

Mae ‘Beca’ wedi prynwyd ar gyfer casgliad Amgueddfeydd Sir Gaerfyrddin.

Costumes designed by Kathryn Campbell Dodd and developed with textile artist Louise Bird. Thank you to Kirsten Hinks-Knight for assisting with hand quilting.

The costumes combine historical references to working women’s clothing of 19th century in Wales with contemporary working apparel. Each costume is machine and hand-stitched and embroidered and has details which refer to textiles in the Carmarthenshire Museums collection in Abergwili. Fabrics and materials are sourced second-hand and made form natural fibres where possible.

‘Beca’ has been purchased for the Carmarthenshire Museums collection.
