Jonathan Pugh

Mae Jonathan Pugh wedi bod yn rhan annatod o brosiect Cragen Beca fel tiwtor ym Mhrifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant ac fel perfformiwr. Mae wedi ysbrydoli ac annog myfyrwyr i gymryd rhan yn y prosiect yn ogystal â pherfformio yn un o wisgoedd Beca yn y Cragen Beca Parade ac yn y gwaith ffilm Dod yn Beca // BecomingBeca.

Mae Jonathan yn uwch ddarlithydd perfformiad yn PCYDDS Caerfyrddin. Yn greadigol, mae Jonathan bob amser wedi integreiddio gwaith digidol a chyfryngau cymdeithasol i ymarfer theatr traddodiadol i greu paradeimau perfformio blaengar gyda myfyrwyr.

Ar ôl graddio mewn Astudiaethau Theatr o Brifysgol Aberystwyth bu Jonathan yn gweithio gydag ymarferwyr a chwmnïau ym myd celfyddydau theatr Cymru, gan gynnwys Eddie Ladd, CliffMcLucas, Sera Moore Williams (Cwmni’r Gymraes), Sian Summers (Cwmni Rhiniog), Theatr Spectacle.

Mae’n parhau i hyfforddi gydag ymarferwyr theatr gorfforol a dawns i gyfuno ymarfer ag archwilio personol ac ymchwil proffesiynol. Dros y blynyddoedd mae hyn wedi cynnwys Henry McGrath, Simon Whitehead, Phillip Zarrilli, cwmni theatr Pantson Fire, Cai Tomos, Eeva-Maria Mutka, Told by an Idiot, Andy Paget, Bronwen Preece, Tetsuro Fukuhara, Jo Fong, ac Ailsa Richardson.

Mae ymarfer creadigol – gyda myfyrwyr yn bennaf – yn canolbwyntio ar strwythurau naratif syml a’r straeon rydyn ni’n eu hadrodd i’n hunain. Fodd bynnag, mewn byd cynyddol ddigidol, datgelir cyfleoedd newydd i archwilio’r ‘hunan’ fel awduron a chynhyrchwyr y naratif hwnnw, a daw’r amlhaenog yn ymgorfforiad o hunan newydd.

Mae prosiectau newydd mewn perfformiad ar safle, ymarfer corfforol mewn natur ar gyfer gwell iechyd meddwl, perfformiad hunan: hunaniaeth all-lein, ar-lein ac mewn VR yn cael eu datblygu.

Jonathan Pugh has been an integral part of the Cragen Beca project both as a tutor at University of Wales Trinity Saint David and as a performer. He has inspired and encouraged students to get involved with the project as well as performing in one of the Beca costumes in both the Cragen Beca Parade and in the film work Dod yn Beca // Becoming Beca.

Jonathan is a senior performance lecturer at UWTSD Carmarthen. Creatively, Jonathan has always integrated digital and social media work into traditional theatre practice to create cutting edge performance paradigms with students.

After graduating in Theatre Studies from Aberystwyth University Jonathan worked with practitioners and companies in the Welsh theatre arts scene, including Eddie Ladd, Cliff McLucas, Sera Moore Williams (Cwmni’r Gymraes), Sian Summers (Cwmni Rhiniog), Spectacle Theatre.

He continues to train with physical theatre and dance practitioners to blend practice with personal exploration and professional research. Over the years this has included Henry McGrath, Simon Whitehead, Phillip Zarrilli, Pants on Fire theatre company, Cai Tomos, Eeva-Maria Mutka, Told by an Idiot, Andy Paget, Bronwen Preece, Tetsuro Fukuhara, Jo Fong, and Ailsa Richardson.

Creative practice – predominantly with students – focuses upon simple narrative structures and the stories we tell ourselves. However, in an increasingly digital world, new opportunities for exploring ‘self’ as authors and producers of that narrative are uncovered, and the multi-layered becomes the embodiment of a new self.

New projects in site-located performance, physical practice in nature for improved mental health, the performance of self: identity offline, online and in VR are in development.
